Hyped fans shouted every word together with West Coast hip hop
sensation Roddy Ricch who was center stage performing in front
of another sold out crowd, rapping about his real life experiences,
metaphorical topical realities, and street life based on his hometown
in Compton. Ricch's energetic raps and melodic style (with some
occasional auto-tune effects) was complimented by the dynamic back
beats and mixes to his Atlantic Records' No. 1 charting label debut,
Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial, with live guitar and piano parts.
Citing influences from Nipsey Hussle, Meek Mill, Kendrick Lamar,
Future, Young Thug, and DJ Mustard, Ricch's sound draws in
geographical styles not only from LA, but also Atlanta and Chicago.
The 21-year-old artist performed his featured Grammy winning track with
the late Nipsey Hussle "Racks In The Middle" as well as No. 1 viral track
"The Box" (which was performed more than once during the set) and
crowd favorites: "High Fashion," "Boom Boom Room," "Ballin'"
(Mustard), "Roll Dice," and more. Ricch also performed tracks from
his 2018 mix tape Feed Tha Streets II, including: "Down Below,"
"Die Young," "Every Season." The performance was made more lofty
by an active light show with fog bursts and a solid stage design that
included a screen. Ricch frequently interacted with the young crowd
requesting fans hold up "W's," "2's," and "1's" all in representation to
introduce the next song performance. Roddy Ricch continues his
successful "The Anti Social Tour" through the end of February.
