Ghost provided a full theatrical rock and roll arena show with classy costumes and a wide backdrop
resembling the interior of a cryptic church tucked inside a castle--with Papa Emeritus' stained glass.
A vibrant psychedelic light show encompassed the production. The Swedish band performed
singles from their latest release, the Grammy nominated
Prequelle ("Faith," "Rats," "Dance Macabre"),
and crowd favorites from
Meliora and Infestissumam, including: Grammy winning "Cirice," "From The
Pinnacle To The Pit," "Year Zero," "Ghuleh/Zombie Queen." Unfortunately absent was the band's ABBA
cover of "I'm A Marionette." The lengthy set had interludes of comedy when the Nameless mask-covered
band of Ghouls and Ghoulettes teased each other with competing instrument solos to spotlight their diverse
talents. Dynamic lead vocalist Tobias Forge, currently in the Cardinal Copia character phase, ruled the night
as master of ceremonies, confidently striding across the stage and exuding an unfettering strong vocal
performance. Halfway through the show, a brief saxophone cameo was made by Papa Nihil.
The Cardinal changed into outfits themed for the band, including his early costume with Papal-like
red shoes and a matching velvet/suede suit, a vibrant all white tux/tailored zoot suit, and a black cassock
with a Ghost logo necklace. The show concluded with hit song "Square Hammer" alongisde flying
confetti and 'Ghost Money' fired from smoke cannons. The live version of Ghost, as well as the studio
version, continues on as a stirring force to be reckoned with, gaining accolades and standing strong
with a dreary, clean-cut gothic image and thrilling grandiose hard rock.
